Do I need to download an app?

No! ZephyPhone works directly in your web browser. Simply log in to your account and start making calls. We support all major browsers including Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge.

What devices can I use?

You can use ZephyPhone on any device with a modern web browser and microphone - desktops, laptops, tablets, and smartphones. For the best experience, we recommend using headphones or earbuds.

Rates & Billing

How much do calls cost?

Our rates vary by country and start from as low as $0.019 per minute. Visit our Rates page to see specific pricing for each destination. We charge per minute with no connection fees or hidden charges.

How do I add credit to my account?

Go to the Top Up page, select an amount ($5, $10, $25, $50, or custom), and pay securely with your credit or debit card. Your balance is available instantly.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept all major credit and debit cards including Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and Discover. All payments are processed securely through Stripe.

Can I save my card for future payments?

Yes! You can save multiple cards in your Settings under the Billing tab. You can also set a default card for quick top-ups and enable auto-recharge to never run out of credit.

What is Auto-Recharge?

Auto-Recharge automatically adds credit to your account when your balance falls below a threshold you set (e.g., $5). This ensures you never miss an important call due to insufficient balance.

Do credits expire?

No, your credits never expire as long as your account remains active. Use them whenever you need!

How much do incoming calls cost?

Incoming calls are charged per minute at a rate set for your number's country, regardless of where the caller is located — the current rate is shown on your Numbers page. You need a ZephyPhone number and sufficient balance to receive calls.

What happens if the payment for my phone number fails?

We charge your card a few hours before your number's monthly renewal. If that charge fails, the number is marked Past Due and you can settle it straight away with the Pay Now button on the Phone Numbers page. Your Phone Numbers page shows exactly how long you have left. If it is still unpaid when that time runs out, the number is released — and a released number cannot be recovered or bought back, so please pay before the deadline.

Refund

Can I get a refund for my credit balance?

Until 1 November 2026, unused credit can be refunded on request. From 1 November 2026, all payments are final and credit is non-refundable once added, including unused credit. EU/EEA consumers keep their legal 14-day right of withdrawal, as described in our Terms of Service.

Are phone number subscriptions refundable?

No. Phone number subscriptions are non-refundable once paid. Please make sure you want the number before completing your purchase. You can cancel at any time to stop future renewals.

How do I request a refund?

Refunds are only given where our Terms of Service or the law require them — for example the EU 14-day right of withdrawal, or unused credit bought before 1 November 2026 if you ask before that date. Contact support@zephyphone.com or submit a form with your account email.

Making Calls

How do I make a call?

Navigate to the Call page, enter the phone number with country code (e.g., +44 for UK), or select a contact, then click the call button. Make sure to allow microphone access when prompted.

What is the call quality like?

We use HD voice technology to ensure crystal-clear call quality. Calls are transmitted over secure, encrypted connections for both quality and privacy.

Can I call any country?

We support calls to over 200 countries worldwide. Check our Coverage page for the complete list of supported destinations.

Why do I need to allow microphone access?

ZephyPhone uses your device's microphone to transmit your voice during calls. Without microphone access, you won't be able to speak during calls. This permission is only used during active calls.

Can I receive incoming calls?

Yes! Purchase a phone number from our Phone Numbers page and you can receive calls directly in your browser. When someone calls your number, you'll see an incoming call notification with caller ID, and you can accept or decline the call. You'll need to be logged into ZephyPhone to receive calls.

Phone Numbers

Can I get my own phone number?

Yes! You can purchase a local phone number from various countries. Go to the Phone Numbers page, select your preferred country and number, and complete the purchase.

How much do phone numbers cost?

Phone number pricing varies by country. You can choose monthly or yearly billing. Yearly plans offer significant savings compared to monthly billing.

Can I use my ZephyPhone number as a caller ID?

Yes, when you purchase a phone number, it becomes your default caller ID. Recipients will see your ZephyPhone number when you call them.

Can I port my existing number?

Number porting is not currently available, but we're working on adding this feature. Stay tuned for updates!

Texting (SMS) in the US & Canada

Can I receive text messages on my ZephyPhone number?

Yes. US and Canadian numbers receive SMS from any US or Canadian mobile. Each incoming text is charged at the incoming SMS rate shown in the app, and arrives in Messages and in your notifications on every device where you are signed in.

Can I send text messages from a Canadian number?

Yes, right away. Canadian numbers text Canadian mobiles, US mobiles and the international destinations listed in the app, with no extra setup.

Can I send text messages from a US number?

Yes.
  • To Canadian mobiles: works right away.
  • To US mobiles: US carriers require a one-time sender registration called 10DLC for every US local number used through an app. Once your number is registered, texts to US mobiles are delivered like any other. Registration is done from the app in a few minutes — see the next questions for steps, fees and what to prepare.

How does 10DLC registration work and what does it cost?

The same steps the carriers use for every sender in the US, handled from your ZephyPhone account:
  1. Register your sender profile: your name or business name, address and contact details. Businesses add their tax or company registration number.
  2. Describe how you use texting, with one or two example messages.
  3. Attach your US number. Carrier review usually completes within a few business days, and you can text Canada in the meantime.

Fees are billed from your balance:

  • Sender profile registration, one-time: $11.25
  • Carrier review, one-time: $37.50
  • Registration upkeep, per month (first 3 months billed upfront): $3.75 for personal and light use, $25.00 for business volume
  • Carrier delivery fee per text to a US mobile, added to the SMS rate: $0.0075 to $0.0125 depending on the recipient's carrier

What do I need to provide for 10DLC registration?

No documents are uploaded. The carriers check your details against official records, so enter them exactly as registered.

For personal use:

  • Your full legal name and home address.
  • Your email and a mobile number that can receive a one-time code.
  • A sentence on how you use texting, for example "conversations with family and friends", and one example message.

For business use, in addition:

  • Legal company name exactly as it appears on your tax or company registration, plus your trading name if different.
  • Tax ID or company registration number: EIN in the US, provincial or federal corporation number in Canada, national registry number elsewhere.
  • Registered business address matching that record.
  • Company website.
  • Industry and entity type (private company, non-profit, public company, government).
  • A short description of how customers agree to receive texts from you, and two example messages.

The most common reason for a delay is a name or address that differs from the official record, so copy them exactly.

Am I charged for texts that are not delivered?

No. If a text is not delivered, the charge is returned to your balance within a few seconds. You only pay for delivered texts and for texts you receive.

Can I text internationally?

Yes. Outgoing SMS rates for each country are shown in the app before you send. Delivery times vary by destination carrier.

Do picture messages (MMS) work?

Yes, between US and Canadian numbers and mobiles, at the MMS rate shown in the app. Registered US numbers also pay the carrier delivery fee per MMS, $0.0175 to $0.025 depending on carrier.

Can I use my number for verification codes from banks or apps?

Yes. Incoming codes arrive as normal incoming texts and are charged at the incoming SMS rate.

What are the content rules for texting?

Texts must be genuine person-to-person conversation. Bulk marketing, automated alerts and sending passcodes on behalf of other services need a business registration tier. Contact support and we will set it up.

Contacts

How do I add contacts?

Go to the Contacts page and click "Add Contact". Enter the contact's name and phone number with country code. You can also import contacts from a CSV file.

Can I import contacts from my phone?

Yes! You can import contacts by uploading a CSV file. Export your contacts from your phone or email provider and upload them to ZephyPhone.

Is there a limit to how many contacts I can save?

No, there's no limit! Save as many contacts as you need for quick and easy calling.

Account & Security

How do I change my password?

Go to Settings > Security and click "Change Password". You'll need to enter your current password and then your new password twice to confirm.

Is my data secure?

Absolutely. We use industry-standard encryption (TLS 1.3) for all data transmission. Your payment information is handled securely by Stripe, and we never store your full card details.

Do you record my calls?

Only if you ask us to. Recording is off by default and entirely under your control. See the questions below for cost, retention, and legal responsibilities.

How do I record a call?

Open Settings → Call Recording and turn on the master toggle to record every call by default, or use the small record button on the dialpad to record a single call. The toggle is hidden whenever recording is not currently offered. Free test calls cannot be recorded.

How much does recording cost and how long are recordings kept?

Recording is charged per minute on top of the call rate (rounded up to the nearest minute) — the exact rate is shown in Settings → Call Recording. Recordings are encrypted at rest and automatically deleted 30 days after the call. After that, you can no longer play or download the audio.

Do I need to tell the other person I'm recording?

In many places, yes. Call-recording laws vary by country and even by US state — some require all parties to consent, others only one. You are solely responsible for complying with the law in the caller's, recipient's, and any intermediate jurisdiction. ZephyPhone does not announce the recording on your behalf.

How can I delete my account?

Contact our support team at support@zephyphone.com to request account deletion. We'll process your request and delete all your personal data in accordance with GDPR requirements.

Troubleshooting

My call won't connect. What should I do?

First, check that you have sufficient balance. Then verify you've entered the correct phone number with country code. Ensure your browser has microphone permissions enabled. If issues persist, try refreshing the page or using a different browser.

The other person can't hear me.

Make sure your microphone is working and not muted. Check that you've granted microphone permission to ZephyPhone in your browser settings. Try using headphones with a built-in microphone for better quality.

I'm experiencing poor call quality.

Poor call quality is usually due to slow or unstable internet connection. Try connecting to a stronger WiFi network or use a wired connection. Close other applications that might be using bandwidth.

My payment failed. What should I do?

Verify your card details are correct and that you have sufficient funds. Some banks block international transactions - contact your bank to authorize the payment. You can also try a different payment method.
